GlobalSalaryTax is operated by Xintong Li (Los Angeles, California, USA).
Additional legal and contact details are available on the Imprint page.
2. Information we collect
Most calculator inputs are used locally in your browser to generate estimates.
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we may collect your name and email address.
If you contact us, we may collect your name, email address, message content, and any other information you choose to provide.
When we or our service providers process personal data, the categories may include:
- information you choose to provide, such as details included in contact messages, newsletter signups, and related correspondence;
- technical and usage data, such as IP address, browser type, device and operating system information, timestamps, requested pages or URLs, referrer information, and similar log data;
- privacy preference choices and similar settings you make through our Privacy Preferences panel; and
- technical signals used to protect forms and related services from spam, abuse, or unauthorized activity.
3. Cookies and browser storage
GlobalSalaryTax may use essential cookies or local browser storage to keep the site working, remember basic preferences, and support security or form functionality. Some preferences may be saved on your device so the site can remember your choices on future visits.
We may use optional analytics tools, such as Google Analytics, to understand site usage, traffic sources, page performance, and general interaction patterns so we can improve GlobalSalaryTax. We do not currently use personalized advertising, advertising cookies, Hotjar, session recordings, or heatmap tools.
4. Newsletter data
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we may collect your name and email address. We use this information to send occasional updates about GlobalSalaryTax, salary calculators, tax-related content, and product updates.
You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe option in our emails or by contacting us.
5. How we use personal data
We may use personal data to:
- operate, secure, maintain, and improve GlobalSalaryTax;
- respond to questions, corrections, support requests, and other messages you send us;
- process newsletter subscriptions and communicate updates you requested;
- monitor site performance, detect abuse, and troubleshoot technical issues; and
- comply with legal obligations and protect our rights where necessary.
6. Legal bases where applicable
Where applicable data protection law requires a legal basis, we generally rely on legitimate interests to operate, secure, maintain, and improve the site; consent for optional analytics, newsletter emails, and non-essential cookies or similar technologies where required; and legal obligations where we need to comply with applicable laws.
7. Security and anti-spam checks
We may use anti-spam or security checks, such as Cloudflare Turnstile, to help protect forms from abuse. These checks may process limited technical information, such as browser or device signals, to verify that a submission is legitimate.
8. Service providers and recipients
We may share personal data with service providers that help us operate, secure, maintain, and improve GlobalSalaryTax.
These service providers may include:
- Cloudflare, which supports site hosting, performance, security, DNS, CDN, form protection, reverse-proxy delivery, and related infrastructure services;
- Google Analytics, which helps us measure website usage, traffic sources, page performance, and general interaction patterns so we can improve the site;
- infrastructure, communication, or support providers reasonably needed to operate the site, process messages, manage newsletter subscriptions, and respond to user inquiries.
We may use Cloudflare to process form submissions and store newsletter subscription records in a Cloudflare-hosted database.
We do not currently use Hotjar or similar session-recording or heatmap tools. If we introduce those tools in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy, our Cookie Notice, and the Privacy Preferences panel before enabling them where required.
These providers may process technical, usage, cookie, communication, newsletter, or related interaction data only as needed to provide services to us.
9. International transfers
Some of our service providers may process personal data in countries other than the one where you are located.
Where applicable law requires safeguards for international transfers, we rely on an appropriate transfer mechanism, such as an adequacy decision or contractual safeguards.
10. Data retention
We retain personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this notice.
In practice, this means:
- technical and operational logs are retained as needed for security, maintenance, troubleshooting, and abuse prevention;
- analytics or measurement data is retained according to the settings and controls available in the relevant analytics provider;
- newsletter signup records are retained until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove them, subject to legal obligations;
- emails and support correspondence may be retained as long as needed to respond to you and maintain support history; and
- information stored only in your browser remains there until you clear it.
11. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you are located and the law that applies, you may have rights related to access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, and consent withdrawal.
You can manage optional privacy preferences through the Privacy Preferences panel and review related details in our Cookie Notice.
12. Complaints
You may have the right to complain to a data protection regulator or supervisory authority in the country where you live or work, or where you believe a privacy issue has occurred.
13. Automated decision-making
GlobalSalaryTax does not use personal data for automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
14. Advertising
We do not currently use personalized advertising on GlobalSalaryTax. If that changes, we will update this Privacy Policy and any related cookie or consent notices before those features go live.
15. Children's privacy
GlobalSalaryTax is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data to us, please contact us so we can review and remove it where appropriate.
16. Changes to this notice
