1. Who we are

GlobalSalaryTax is operated by Xintong Li in Los Angeles, California, USA.

2. Information we collect

Calculator inputs are processed locally in your browser and are not sent to GlobalSalaryTax as part of the calculation. The U.S. and China calculators can each save up to five recent calculations in your browser, including calculator inputs and results, so you can review them later.

When you contact GlobalSalaryTax by email, we receive your email address, message content, and any other information you choose to provide.

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address, any optional name you provide, and related signup details such as signup source, subscription status, and signup time.

Depending on how you use the site, we process the following categories of information:

• Information you choose to provide, such as newsletter signups and emails or other correspondence you send us
• Technical and usage data processed by our infrastructure or analytics providers, such as page requests, performance signals, timestamps, referrer information, and similar operational data
• Privacy preference choices saved on your device through our Privacy Preferences panel
• Technical signals processed temporarily to protect newsletter signup and related services from spam, abuse, or unauthorized activity

3. Cookies and browser storage

GlobalSalaryTax uses essential browser storage to keep the site working and remember privacy preference choices on your device.

Cloudflare Web Analytics: This service collects page usage and performance information without using cookies.

Google Analytics: This service is enabled only if you allow analytics through the Privacy Preferences panel. You can change this preference at any time. If you withdraw consent, GlobalSalaryTax stops using Google Analytics and removes the Google Analytics cookies it can identify in your browser.

Browser storage on your device can also contain privacy preference choices and up to five recent calculations from each supported calculator. Saved calculation history remains on the device until you delete individual records or clear browser site data.

We do not currently use advertising tools, advertising cookies, Hotjar, session recordings, or heatmap tools.

4. Newsletter data

If you subscribe to the newsletter, we collect your email address and any optional name you provide. We use this information to send occasional updates about GlobalSalaryTax, salary calculators, tax content, and product updates.

You can unsubscribe from newsletter emails or request deletion of your newsletter record by contacting privacy@globalsalarytax.com.

5. How we use personal data

We use personal data for the following purposes, where applicable:

• Operate, secure, maintain, and improve the site
• Respond to messages and support requests you send to GlobalSalaryTax
• Manage newsletter subscriptions and requested updates
• Measure site performance where permitted
• Detect abuse and troubleshoot technical issues
• Comply with legal obligations

6. Legal bases where applicable

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we rely on:

• Consent for Google Analytics and newsletter communications where required
• Legitimate interests to operate, secure, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the site where permitted by law
• Compliance with legal obligations where processing is required by law

7. Security and anti-spam checks

We use Cloudflare Turnstile to help protect newsletter signup from spam and abuse. Turnstile processes limited browser, device, and network signals for verification. A visitor’s IP address may be sent to Cloudflare as part of that verification, but GlobalSalaryTax does not store it in the newsletter database.

8. Service providers and recipients

We share personal data with service providers that help us operate, secure, maintain, and improve GlobalSalaryTax.

Our service providers include:

• Cloudflare, which provides hosting, content delivery, security, database storage, anti-spam protection, and website analytics
• Google Analytics, which measures website usage only after analytics consent through Privacy Preferences
• Resend, which sends operational email notifications related to newsletter signups

We use Cloudflare to process newsletter signups and store subscription records in a database hosted by Cloudflare. These providers process data to provide their services to GlobalSalaryTax.

9. International transfers

GlobalSalaryTax is operated from the United States. Newsletter information, messages, analytics data, and security signals can be processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. Calculator inputs and saved calculation history remain in your browser and are not sent to GlobalSalaryTax through the calculation process.

10. Data retention

We retain personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this notice.

In practice, this means:

• U.S. and China calculator history remains in the user’s browser until individual records are deleted or browser site data is cleared.
• Active newsletter signup records are retained while the user remains subscribed.
• Newsletter unsubscribe and deletion requests are handled through privacy@globalsalarytax.com. Newsletter records are deleted after a valid deletion request is processed, subject to any legal requirement to retain limited information.
• Emails and related correspondence are retained only as long as reasonably needed to respond, maintain necessary records, resolve disputes, or meet legal obligations.
• Cloudflare Workers logs are currently retained for 3 days under the Workers Free plan.
• Google Analytics event data is currently retained for 2 months.
• Google Analytics user data is currently retained for 14 months.
• The user data retention period is reset when new user activity is recorded.
• Aggregated reports can remain available separately from event data and user data.
• Information stored only in the browser remains there until the user removes it.

11. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you are located and the law that applies, you may have rights related to access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, and consent withdrawal.

You can manage optional privacy preferences, including Google Analytics consent, through the Privacy Preferences panel. Related details are described in our Cookie Notice.

To unsubscribe from the newsletter, request deletion of your subscription record, or make another privacy request, contact privacy@globalsalarytax.com.

You can remove saved calculator history by deleting individual records or clearing browser site data.

12. Complaints

You may have the right to complain to a data protection regulator or supervisory authority in the country where you live or work, or where you believe a privacy issue has occurred.

13. Automated decision-making

GlobalSalaryTax does not use personal data for automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

14. Children's privacy

GlobalSalaryTax is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data to us, please contact us so we can review and remove it where appropriate.

15. Changes to this notice

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect legal, operational, or service changes. We will post the updated version on this page and update the "Last updated" date.
